International Pals

About Us
The Howard University International Pals is an organization that was founded on the principle of "Breaking Boundaries and Building Bridges." It was founded in 1986 by Dr Grace Ansah on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC. Today the International Pals stand as 32 active members from over 10 countries who strive to: create a "home away from home" for incoming international students, as well as promote, highlight and educate the Howard community about the various cultures which populate and add to the unique experience of the university.
The International Pals are good sources of information for the students and their families, as we are willing and able to answer any of the questions that may arise.
In essence, the International Pals are here to help theme create a home away from home, while maintaining their customs and cultures.

The International Pals are students from varying backgrounds and pursuits, with the singular intention of assisting incoming international students. We aid in the students' journey from familiar surroundings to the strange new world at the Mecca.
We do this by being:
- Guides
- Friends
- Mentors
- Sources of Information for International Students &Their Families
- Support Systems
We aim to create programming that allows for international students to put on display their culture while getting to also understand American culture, specifically African-American culture.
The International Pals try to make the students' experiences here exceptional, while at the same time, helping them keep focused on their goals of being successful and making the most of their tertiary education.
